For those of you that don't know, I began something called Stroller Strides in March. I wanted a way to get in shape and meet some people, and a girl in my neighborhood said she liked it. I went to a grand opening in San Marcos and got free registration! Bonus!!! I was going to do it anyways, but hey, everyone likes free stuff! I was excited to start going to classes!
I looked up the closest location to our house, and, lucky me, there was one only 5-10 minutes away. It is in such a nice area with great parks, neighborhoods, and hills.
I was hooked after my first class, even though I was clearly and completely out of shape. I knew this class would work. I needed to get in shape. Plus, it didn't hurt that the girls were so welcoming!
I have now been going Monday through Friday, and the occasional Saturday. I love it. We have met friends... Yes... WE have met friends! I obviously have the opportunity to talk to and meet with many fabulous women, but Blake now has friends! I love hearing him say, "Play with Freddy?" Or, "Where Presley go?" Watching your children interact with others is amazing. The kids play every day after class and have an organized play group one day a week. It truly is a great thing for Blake, and it will be for Claire when she is old enough to participate and play as well.
Separate from class, we have Moms' Night Out. Love this. In the past it has been jewelry and wine parties, self-defense classes, or just hanging out. I'm looking forward to the next one. Dinner at a Mexican restaurant with a recipe exchange. Sounds good to me!
Personally, I am more inspired to run and eat healthy. I just signed up for the Tinker Bell 10K which is in January at Disneyland! It sounds like so much fun! I hope to be able to do a half marathon next year at this time. Anyone who knows me would be thinking, "WHAT!? Laura hates running!" The funny thing is... I really don't anymore. I just needed time to train and improve, and some friends to help me along in the process!
I will leave you with a few pictures of Blake and his SS buddies. I will keep you updated on my SS and 10K training progress!
